About the event
The Phoenix Club is a group of women with substantial life experience who meet monthly to share ideas on how to use their time, skills, and talents to support each other and to enrich the lives of those around them. In June we will explore “The Word-Tone Connection.” What makes up a memorable musical setting of a text? Using examples from a variety of musical styles, we will listen to and discuss examples of highly effective settings and dig into what makes them great. The session will be led by Alice Trimmer. Alice is an editor and violinist who worked on music textbooks for children for many years. She holds a doctorate in music from the City University of New York.
